Hello,
I was reading your write up on the new Keihin CRs and was wondering if you might now where to get a set of aluminum velocity stacks for them. They run great on my 750 chopper with the included plastice stacks, unfortunately they looka bit hokey on my bike.
Thanks for all you help,
Sean

Sean,

there is a person on German Ebay who is manufacturing aluminum stacks for CRs. Have a look at item #8016307899 - they're billet made and niceliy polished, but they have their price. I am not afiliated in any way, I just ran into them on Ebay.

Seller's name is macgreifer just in case the auction ran out already.

He is making them on request.

Hello again,
The velocity stacks are listed at 40mm long. Is this a good length for street use? I would like to have my power during acceleration instead of high end!
My motor is a well built 836 that dynoed around 93 hp at the crank.

Thank you again,

Most velocity stacks I have have around 40mm length. In general, a longer intake duct provides more bottom end power, altough I guess the length of the velocity stacks only has little influence on the power band. The stacks should have a certain length, though, to avoud turbulence at the carb mouth.

Bottom line is: 40mm sound perfectly well Wink

And 93HP out of 836cc is pretty good! Congratulations!

Michael Niemann of Egli Racing has given me a word of caution on using other than Keihin's velocity stacks on CR carbs: Differently shaped stacks may cause a low pressure zone around the air correction jet which in turn leads to either lean mixture at WOT and/or bad idling.

It's a different situation on the FCRs, but the CRs seem to be pretty touchy with the stack length and shape.

Try ebay item 8072456576 - they are for FCRs not for CRs but this is the guy who manufactures them.
