That's a pretty early Egli Honda Very Happy Yes, EVH750 stands for Egli Vincent Honda 750, 143 is the chassis number (my supposed prototype is 138, just 5 chassis earlier!). AP are the initials of the person who actually manufactured the chassis.

Foggy,

I am pretty sure this is a very early Egli (I have EVH750138, and your chassis is just five chassis later). I will bring the pictures online these days. Are the steering head bearings also imperial? Egli has changed to metric bearings soon after the first EVH750 chassis - he used imperial bearings when he was still building chassis for Vincents but changed to metric soon when he started making chassis for the CB 750.

Thanks,

Here are the pictures:

The tubular thing in the foreground is an additional oil reservoir that goes between the oil reservoir in the backbone and the engine to prevent the engine from oil starvation during long braking. BTW - does this frame have the oil reservoir in the backbone?

axl, thanks for your reply
i am slowly getting the story a bit at a time,
yes ,this egli does use the frame as an oil tank[it has been cut open
in the middle-then brased up]i am told they were having problems with the baffles-which makes me think there was a batch of prototypes? of maybe
5 or 6 and this is one of them?
apparently it raced in the early70's in france,with a 750 motor[sandcast]
which had no numbers....sadly this engine has parted from the frame,
and then went short circuiting at suzuka
the forks have not turned up yet[supposed to have egli vincent cast into
the fork legs]which would mean the headbearings would be imperial, but i'm not definite on that yet,the racing bodywork was removed in japan,
and there might be an egli exhaust coming with it,interesting?i've been looking to try and identify who rode it?
