| 68? yikes that's big...needs new liners I assume. One of mine originally had what Colin Seeley's called a 1000cc kit (!), actually was 67mm pistons in standard liners (which were so thin they had distorted)- I can't help wondering what it must have cost to bore out the liners by 6mm! Hmmm. |

| Don't forget to bore out the castings when fitting new liners. Maximum is 73mm bore though, so 68 is mild from my point of view. |

| Exactly. So, when going for 68mm, you could as well go to 70mm. |

Hello,
Thanks to AXl who posted my question ,
In fact, i have a complete engine but the pistons are broken, only one is in good condition. The bore is really 68mm and has just 2 marks : ART 8, i think i'ts ART manufacture. I try to find a new kit for riding in classic bike race.

The '88 Yamaha FZR 750 has 68mm bore. A friend was using FZR750 pistons in his 750 SOHC/4 engine - they have a 16mm wrist pin, but the con rods can be bored out to 16mm.
I will have to check which year's pistons he was using, but if his also has 68mm that might be an option. And oversize pistons should also be available then from Yamaha.
I'll check - watch this space!

A good way to do this is to go to the wiseco site,
then the 'power sports' category, find some good brand (kawasaki or so),
and find which 68mm pistons have 15mm pin's.
You can recognize them at the clips, CW15 is 15mm, CW16 is also a possibility.
You don't have to order wiseco's, they're very good but quite heavy so you have to use carillo's also.
Instead you can find pistons on ebay for almost every bike for the heafty price of $40 or so. |

I just added a link to http://www.scafutopistoni.it/, the makers of Asso pistons. They even have a search engine for pistons on their web site - enter e.g. wrist pin diameter and compression height and you will get a list of pistons that match your specs.

| Well, I played around a bit with the pistons database. at second look it is not as helpful as I thought in the first place - the vast majority of their pistons are for two strokers. They do have pistons (std bore) for the CB 750 - that's why I added their link, but my search for wrist pin 15 or 16mm didn't reveal much useful information. Too bad. |
