Hi

I recently purchased a cb750 DOHC.

I am having trouble identifying what model it is...
I'm guessing a F3?
RC04-2006557 is the engine and motor #'s.

The only mention of cb750/900 #'s with RC04 at the beginning is Bol d'Or.
Question
From what I can find Bol d'Or is a racetrack.

I have been told it is "probably a supersport 750"
??

thnx

It's not a SOHC/4, but a DOHC model with two camshafts.

These were the successors to the SOHC models. The RC04 is the 750 cc model (they also came with 900, 1000 and 1100 cc), it came out in 1980 and replaced the K7/K8 and F2/F3 SOHC models.

Your model code is actually RC04

In Europe they were also called the Bol d'Or, after the famous endurance race.

Hope that helps!

thnx Axel,

So far, I have read these motors were notorious about about wearing out cam chains, and destroying pistons.

Does anyone know the compression height(distance from centerline of wrist pin to crown of piston) for this bike??
I beleive older K and F series are 0.940(inches, I'm in the US), hoping that this didn't change too drastically...('79 cb650 pistons have 0.940 C.H.)
I am toying with the idea of boring out my spare '79cb650 motor and using the '79 750 pistons. Especially since overbore kits are almost non-existing.
While i'm at it.... Is is safe to overbore a cb650?
