I would like to know what oil to use. Synthetic or not. Also what viscosity?
I have oil coolers, so I don't know if that makes a diference. Thnaks |

Hi Matt,
I use standard, non-synthetic oil in my stock engines. The oil change intervals are so short that synthetic oils won't be able to make a real difference over standard dino juice. Viscosity should be 10-40 or 20-50. Just stay away from lower viscosity oils like 5-40 - they are too thin and might produce oil leaks. Special motorcycle oil may be a good idea if you don't mind the additional cost.
It's a bit different in high performance engines - I use synthetic oil with them, just for the extra safety margin they may provide. But that is unnecessary in a stock or mildly hopped up motor. These bikes were designed at a time when synthetic oil was almost unheard of yet.
Oil coolers only make a diff in the amount of oil you need.
All the best |
