I know this sounds a bit strange, but could anyone tell me if grafting a SOHC top end onto a DOHC bol 'd' or bottom end is even worth contemplating.

It's like what cafebob asked in this http://www.satanicmechanic.de/board/viewtopic.php?p=474#474 thread, just the other way round. Cylinder spacing should be ok, th enext question are the cylinder studs, an then the oil passages.

I have been playing with the idea of putting a 750 DOHC head on a 750 SOHC engne but I gave up - it wouldn't be a SOHC engine anymore Laughing

Just for the record, there has been a DOHC head for the 750 SOHC made by Piper, UK which had surfaced at some races in Europe but vanished shortly therafter. I have a picture somewhere, in case someone is interested I can try to dig it up.

Cheers,

I had a quick look at a CB 900 barrel - they're pretty incompatible, different cylinder stud pattern for starters. No easy swap, to say the least.
