Would anybody know if the camshaft holder from a CB750K6/F/F1 will fit an earlier K2?
The part numbers differ with these models although they do look very similar.

Mick,

Aren't the only differences in the early cam towers and the later ones related to the rocker shafts? On the later one perhaps, a bolt goes through the tower, through a hole in the shaft and prevents the shaft from spinning? Or something very similar to that. Downside is uneven wear when the shaft can not spin. Upside unsure?? Must be one though.

The two M5 bolts should be the only difference. Rumor has it that they were introduced only to make the valve train a bit less noisy, leaving the bolts out should add an HP or so. Will try that in a build this winter, although the HP gain may be hard to measure.

I have located a NOS camtower for the later motors and was interested in purchasing that until I was told of the price.
In my collection of engine parts are some camtowers in reasonable condition but unfortunately some are missing the top caps which seems to be a too common occurance when these parts are being "rescued" Razz from some of the motorcycle wrecking yards.
Thanks for all of your help with that info.

Mick,

Keep in mind that the each cap is sized to fit the tower that it came with. ie matching sets and have letters stamped on each piece for reference.
