| i was wondering if anyone knows how big of a cam i can run with these pistons? is there anyway to find out? with out bolting the motor together with plastiguage on the piston crowns. thanks chris |

If you would have a picture of your pistons, I could make a guess looking at the valve pockets.

trw L2424, 3mm, 10.5:1 comp. ratio. im looking for a cam that will make up for the extra displacement. shes a everyday rider and i put alot of miles on her and i ride hard so i definately dont want to lose reliability. but id like a hot cam so i can really feel the difference. i race stop light to stop light alot and i also ride the freeway alot. id like more mid range and top end but i dont want to sacrifice bottom end. the motor is a 71 and im sticking with the stock carbs. everything else in the motor will be stock except pistons and cam. sprockets are 18/48. 4-2 exhaust(1-3,2-4), no baffles.
also what valve springs with the recommended cam?

Hi Cris,
from what I see on the pics (BTW, I edited your postings a bit to make the images show up directly), and how you describe your riding style, I would recommend either Megacycle's 125-65 or Web Cam's 41a. The Megacycle is only available as hardweld in exchange for a stock cam, the web cam is still available as billet. I would guess both cams are ok with your valve pockets, but I would recommend checking clearance when you assemble the engine - its better to be safe than sorry  .
For valve springs, I would go for stock F2 ('7 springs, they are about 10% stiffer, and probably titanium retainers. I run that combo with a 125-65, and it revs up to 10k and more with no problem which should give you more than enough safety.

| Couple of options: Used springs from your nearby wrecker's yard (look for a black 750 engine), your local Honda dealer, or David Silver Spares in the UK or CMS in the Netherlands. |
